ed sheeran

i have been hearing this name a lot lately and decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about. well, since releasing his first independent ep, The Orange Room, back in '05, ed has hammered out several independent releases and garnered attention from the likes of jamie foxx and elton john along the way. his final indie ep, no. 5 collaborations project, hit #2 on itunes in january 2011 without any major-label promotion, which is yet another testament to the power of youtube and social networking. shereen signed with atlantic records in spring of last year and released his first lp, +, in september. + has since surpassed sales of 1 million in the uk and is starting to make waves in north america. now, cue the music. most of the tracks feature ed, an acoustic gutiar and some simple percussion. the album as a whole has a very singer-songwritery vibe. when i first listened i was instantly reminded of james blunt. since listening to the album a few times im also reminded a lot of taylor swift, which makes sense considering the pair have reportedly been inseparable while working on some sort of musical collaboration. check out lead single the a team below, along with personal favs give me love, kiss me and little bird. eeenjoooy!
